DAVAO CITY, 18 August 2017 – The hype continues to build up for #AirAsiainDavao as the airline today announced it will join the Kadayawan Festivities in Davao for the third year as major sponsor of music festival in Lanang Business Park Grounds and float parade during the Pamulak Festival on August 19 and 20, respectively.
Kadayawan Festival is an annual festival held every third week of August to celebrate thanksgiving for abundant harvest. The name of the festival is a derivative of friendly greetings in the local dialect, “Madayaw,” which translates to “treasured or valuable.” The history of the festival, according to published report from Davao Tourism, can be traced back to the thanksgiving offerings made by locals in Davao when they would gather at Mount Apo to show their gratitude to a deity they referred to as “Manama.” Their offerings would range from fresh fruits, farm produce, green veggies and rice.
AirAsia’s float highlights the bountiful produce and attractions in Davao and the airline’s continued commitment to Davao as an important gateway for business and leisure. AirAsia has several flights to/from Davao to Manila, Palawan, Boracay, Cebu and Clark including international destination to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia starting December 21.
AirAsia Philippines CEO Captain Dexter Comendador said, “It’s an exciting time to visit Davao via AirAsia’s signature low fare and superb service. Now, more and more tourists have access to Davao, a region with so much potential for business and tourism.”
In partnership with City Tourism Office and Department of Tourism Davao, AirAsia is also hosting a group of bloggers in Davao during the Kadayawan Festivities. AirAsia will also give exclusive branded items and freebies to lucky winners who will visit the airline’s booth and attend the Carte Blance rave party and other major activities with free AirAsia flights as special prizes.
